We’re once again offering an intensive and experiential training to deepen your skills and knowledge as an herbalist with Clinical Herbalist and educator Feather Jones.
This program is open to anyone who has completed the first year program or has a basic but solid foundation in western herbal therapeutics, medicine making and formulation strategies. Two field trips are included, 2 nights in Cave Creek campground, Chiricahua Mountains in southeastern Arizona, and 2 nights outside Durango Colorado in late summer in the high country.

Enhance Your Herbal Knowledge With:
- Plant Identification ~ Get to know the bioregional plants of the deserts, riparians, canyons and mountains.
- Mindful Harvesting Practices ~ Gain an understanding of sustainable wild harvesting techniques for each plant we gather, ‘tending the wild garden’.
- Materia Medica ~ The stories of the plants: Discover how ancient cultures used them for foods and medicines, folk remedies, pharmacognosy, the science of botanical medicine, clinical practices and common everyday uses.
- Herbal Therapeutics ~ How to apply herbal medicines in specific indications, using formulas and simples.
- Organ System Imbalances ~ Learn herbal actions for each system, when to tone, when to strengthen, when to stimulate or sedate and when to nourish.
- Herbal Energetics ~ Discover your innate connection to the plants themselves through flower essences and intuitive practice.

Wild Harvesting Botanical Field Trips
Chiricahua Mountains, Arizona
May 19th – 21st, 2023
Cave Creek Canyon, two nights camping in the sky island country of southern Arizona. 2:00 p.m. afternoon herb walk to ranger station. Next morning to the desert for replenishing our herbal pharmacies, flower essences and herb processing at the picnic tables, evening hike to the vista for full moonrise. Bring music, songs or your favorite story.
Durango, Colorado Southern Rockies, Colorado
September 15th – 17th, 2023
Two overnighters high country camping for osha, possible sweet cicely, rabbitbrush flower essence, rosehips, etc., kava ceremony, certificates and closing circle.

January 15th, 2023 | Cardiovascular system, materia medica, monographs on Hawthorne and Ginkgo. Make flavonoid tea. |
February 5th, 2023 | Continuing cardio~ hypertension, hypotension and arteriosclerosis. Urinary tract therapeutics and materia medica, facial, tongue and nail diagnosis. |
February 26th, 2023 | Urinary tract continued~ kidney stones and UTIs, UT formulations, dandelion aperitif preparations, Respiratory materia medica, pleurisy and grindelia monographs. |
March 19th, 2023 | Respiratory continued~ tobacco treatment, allergic rhinitis, asthma, throat sprays. |
April 9th, 2023 | Review upper, lower GI system materia medica, IBS, ulcerative colitis and Chrones, neutralizing cordial preparations, Chinese rhubarb monograph, laxatives, tonics and alkalinizers. Formulation sheet. |
April 30th, 2023 | Nervous system therapeutics for cognitive impairment, depression/anxiety, ADHD, pain management, ashwagandha and gotu kola monographs. Finish materia medica, adaptogens. |
May 19th – 21st, 2023 (Field Trip) |
Chiricahua Mountains field trip, Cave Creek Canyon, two nights camping in the sky island country of southern Arizona. 2:00 p.m. afternoon herb walk to ranger station. Next morning to the desert for replenishing our herbal pharmacies, flower essences and herb processing at the picnic tables. Full moonrise at the vista. Bring musical instruments for a magical night of stories and songs under the full moon. |

Nervous system continued; Immune malfunctions, brief review of biofilms materia medica and therapeutics. |
July 23rd, 2023 | Plant ID and sample wild harvesting in the canyons. A few new plants. |
August 27th, 2023 | Symptomology and assessment, intake forms. Review of formulation strategies. |
September 15th – 17th, 2023 (Field Trip) |
Durango, Colorado root and berry harvesting trip, two overnighters high country camping for osha, sweet cicely, rabbitbrush flower essence, rose hips, etc., kava ceremony, certificates and closing circle. |
