We’re once again offering an intensive and experiential training to deepen your skills and knowledge as an herbalist with Clinical Herbalist and educator Feather Jones.

This program is open to anyone who has completed the first year program or has a basic but solid foundation in western herbal therapeutics, medicine making and formulation strategies. Two field trips are included, 2 nights in Cave Creek campground, Chiracahua Mountains in southeastern Arizona, and 2 nights outside Durango Colorado in late summer in the high country.

Enhance Your Herbal Knowledge With:

  • Plant Identification ~ Get to know the bioregional plants of the deserts, riparians, canyons and mountains.
  • Mindful Harvesting Practices ~ Gain an understanding of sustainable wild harvesting techniques for each plant we gather, ‘tending the wild garden’.
  • Materia Medica ~ The stories of the plants: Discover how ancient cultures used them for foods and medicines, folk remedies, pharmacognosy, the science of botanical medicine, clinical practices and common everyday uses.
  • Herbal Therapeutics ~ How to apply herbal medicines in specific indications, using formulas and simples.
  • Constitutional Medicine ~ An introduction to the foundation of herbal medicine.
  • Organ System Imbalances ~ Learn herbal actions for each system, when to tone, when to strengthen, when to stimulate or sedate and when to nourish.
  • Herbal Medicine Making ~ Spend time in the kitchen making remedies: salves, tinctures, tisanes, herbal treats and respiratory syrups.
  • Herbal Energetics ~ Discover your innate connection to the plants themselves through flower essences and intuitive practice.

Wild Harvesting Botanical Field Trips

Chiracahua Mountains, Arizona

May 12th – 13th, 2022

Cave Creek Canyon, two nights camping in the sky island country of southern Arizona. 2:00 p.m. afternoon herb walk to ranger station. Next morning to the desert for replenishing our herbal pharmacies, flower essences and herb processing at the picnic tables, evening hike to the vista for full moonrise. Bring music, songs or your favorite story.

September 2nd – 4th, 2022

Two overnighters high country camping for osha, possible sweet cicely, rabbitbrush flower essence, rosehips, etc., kava ceremony, certificates and closing circle.

January 9th, 2022 Cardiovascular system, materia medica, monographs on hawthorne and ginkgo, hypertension, hypotension and arteriosclerosis, honey roasting techniques. (astragalus, osha, ginseng, dong quai, ginger syrup, rosehips/hawthorne honey.)
January 30th, 2022 Urinary tract therapeutics, uva ursi monograph, dandelion aperitif preparations.
February 20th, 2022 Immune malfunctions, autoimmune challenges. Prep Buhler broth soup and roasted burdock & chaga recipes, elder monograph.
March 13th, 2022 Respiratory, allergic rhinitis, asthma, nasal spray and throat lozenge preparations, pleurisy and grindelia monographs.
April 3rd, 2022 Lower GI system, neutralizing cordial preparations, Chinese rhubarb monograph, laxatives, tonics and alkalinizers.
April 24th, 2022 Nervous system therapeutics for cognitive impairment, depression/anxiety, ADHD, pain management, ashwaganda and gotu kola monographs. Cover adaptogen variations.
May 2nd – 4th, 2022
