Welcome to The Herbal Apprenticeship Program

with Feather Jones

We have a wonderful and enlightening journey ahead this year and I am looking forward to our time together learning directly from the plants, teaching us to use our intuition, mindfully wild harvesting and making potent high quality medicines from the deserts, canyons, hillsides, and meadows of Arizona and Colorado. We’ll be visiting a wide diversity of plant zone communities and I’ll be introducing you to 70+ new plants this year, with opportunities to collect most of those. This does not include any flower essences you might prepare. With a high degree of organoleptic standards, the outdoor work and field trips are a great opportunity to develop your own extensive herbal pharmacy.

You will receive an herbal handbook designed for this program on your first day of class. The materia medica will be gone over in detail with a focus on plant monographs, which are the stories of each plant we’ll be discussing. Their constituents, properties, actions, specific indications, compatible formulas, toxicity and contraindications, dosages, preparation venue, energetics, historical/herstorical uses as well as modern research and common therapeutic practice all offer a holographic view into herbal therapeutics.

I hope you share in my passion for these plant allies. They have much to teach us about right relationship to the earth and to one another.

herbally yours~

Here are directions to Mago’s Ranch where classes will be held: From the Village of Oak Creek, Highway 179, turn east onto Jack’s Canyon Road, turn right after one mile to stay on Jack’s Canyon, drive 1/4 mile further and turn right on Bobcat Trail. Follow Bobcat trail and you will make a hard left in the road, then turn left into Mago’s Ranch driveway. Carpool if you can, do not park directly on Bobcat Trail, pull into the driveway.
