The Herbal Apprenticeship Program with Feather Jones, Clinical Herbalist and educator, launches on Sunday, February 19th, 2017, and continues through January 21st, 2018, with events on the third Sunday of every month, with the exception of the three botanical field trips.

GoldenPoppyThe first botanical field trip will be April 22nd – 23rd and is the Southwestern Boyce Thompson Arboretum Field Trip. It includes overnight camping at Oak Flats campground in Superior, Arizona.
Saturday afternoon, April 22nd, we’ll be wildcrafting in the high desert, with a special guest herbal speaker in the evening. Bring your musical instruments and voices to share around the campfire. Sunday morning through lunch, we’ll be at the Arboretum, where the cost is $10. per person entrance fee. This is a magnificent living plant museum and we’ll take an herb walk around the grounds. There are several gardens within the arboretum, and Feather will introduce students to many new plants.

If you want to pay for this field trip A La Carte, the cost is $150., otherwise, the training is included in the program fee.

The four day Rocky Mountain Botanical Field Trip July 4th – 7th, 2017 includes camping in beautiful Lyons, Colorado with daily caravans to different plant zone communities in the Rocky Mountains. Instructions are given for preparing fresh plant tinctures, oils, vinegars, and honeys. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on instruction on ethical wildcrafting and develop a personal pharmacy. On one evening during the field trip, guest speaker and renown herbalist, Brigitte Mars, will walk you through her working garden in Boulder, Colorado.

If you want to pay for this field trip A La Carte, the cost is $390., otherwise, the training is included in the program fee (excluding camping).

August 6th is the Durango Root Harvest Field Trip in the mountains outside Durango, Colorado. Students will need to arrive on August 5th, with a morning class on August 6th. This wild harvesting trip is an opportunity to harvest rose hips, osha, sweet cicely, rabbitbrush, sagebrush and more. We’ll also be making flower essences on site.

If you want to pay for this field trip A La Carte, the cost is $90, otherwise, the training is included in the program fee.

Payment Options: To guarantee your space in the Herbal Apprenticeship Program, the preregistration fee of $1160. for the entire program is due by February 1st, 2017.

To preregister for the entire program, you may also make four payment installments of $300. each, totaling $1200. Payments will be due February 1st, May 1st, August 1st, and November 1st, 2017.

For A La Carte classes, the fee is $90 per class.

  • $1160.00 = $12.21 per class hour
  • $300.00 per quarter = $12.63 per class hour
  • $90.00 per class = $15.00 per class hour

Feather Jones is a Registered Clinical Herbalist in Western Herbalism who integrates herbal remedies, holistic nutrition, flower essences and stress reduction guidance. Her 30+ year career in teaching herbal medicine and clinical practice, coupled with a background in Native American (Mandan) tribal teachings, provides her clients and students with a synergistic approach to health and healing.

She is an instructor of botanical medicine at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Feather served as the president for the American Herbalists Guild twice. She holds a certificate from the Santa Fe College of Natural Medicine as Clinical Herbalist from 1982.

Feather is an herbal consultant for the natural products industry and offers classes in Western Herbal Medicine open to the public as well as various gatherings and conferences around the country.

She has an organic herbal tea company, Sedona Tea Blends. Sedona’s famed vortex energies and selected desert flower essences are infused into a mandala of medicinal botanicals that provide a wellness tea for body, mind and spirit.
